Pete Edochie is a legendary Nollywood actor, producer, TV personality, businessman and philanthropist. He was born on March 7, 1947 in the city of Enugu in the state of Enugu in Nigeria. He comes from Anambra. He had elementary and secondary education in Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria.
He is considered the most talented actor in Africa. He is a devout Catholic whom people have misunderstood because of his role as a film. In 1967 he joined as a junior program assistant on the radio, after which he was appointed director. In 1980 he became famous by starring in an NTA television series “Things Fall Apart”, in which he played the lead role of Okonkwo.
He won an international award for his role as Okonkwo in the TV series “Things Fall Apart”. BBC reporters also interviewed him. In 2005, Pete Edochie was suspended from the Actors Guild of Nigeria for asking for high fees for one year. In 2009, Pete Edochie was kidnapped by rogues and later released unharmed after a huge ransom was paid.
Pete Edochie is currently married and has many children. One of his sons, “Yul Edochie,” is a famous Nollywood actor. Pete Edochie has starred in more than 200 films including Heavy Battle, Test Your Heart, Greatest Harvest, Secret Pain, and more. He has won several Grammy Awards at home and abroad, including the best actor in Africa, the Nollywood legend and the most talented actor.
He is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian film industry “Nollywood”. He has retired from acting and is dedicated to the church.
