‘New Girl’s’ Lamorne Morris Expresses Righteous Indignation After Bullshit Arrest
I have no idea what Lamorne Morris has done with his life since New Girl ended, but damn if he wasn’t an integral part of New Girl, the last good hangout sitcom. Morris was a last minute addition to the cast after Damon Wayans, Jr. went back to work on Happy Endings, another amazing hang-out sitcom which got an unexpected pickup, but he turned out to be one of the most vibrant, fun characters on what was a show full of silly and larger-than-life characters.
In other words, he deserves better than how he was treated by police. In fact, the entire country deserves better than the treatment the police give African-Americans in the USA.
TMZ reported that Morris was rightly enraged about being arrested for filming the police as they arrested his friend for the crime of being assaulted.
Lamorne’s friend got into it with security at Avenue nightclub Saturday night. His friend was bleeding from the face when cops arrived, and they cuffed and arrested him.
Lamorne did not understand why his buddy was busted, saying his friend was the one who was attacked. As the actor filmed the arrest on his cellphone, a cop manhandled him, placed him against the wall and handcuffed him.
Yeah, that is entirely not okay. You absolutely have the right to record the police and they’re not allowed to cover up their badges and faces like they’re in Watchmen.
Lamorne says he was told he got in the cops’ space … a justification he scoffed at. He was eventually let go but was super pissed.
He should be pissed. We should all be pissed. And Morris has not only talked about this in the past, he wrote a storyline on New Girl where his character, by then a police officer, dealt with these kinds of incidents.
We can do better than this, and we all deserve better than this.
