In totally surprising news, multiple acts have pulled out of Woodstock 50. The music festival meant to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock, was hurtling towards disaster for quite some time before all the drama finally seemed to settle a mere weeks before it’s supposed to happen. Now that Woodstock 50 has decidedly become a free-ish concert in Maryland it’s time to see who the acts will be for the show since they have about 14 days to prepare now? Or 16 days, I guess, if you want to leave things to the very very very last minute. As expected, many of the headlining acts are dropping out of this concert faster than the Fyre Festival hemorrhaged money–and a whole bunch more are now reportedly out including Miley Cyrus and The Raconteurs.

Woodstock 50 is officially a flop. Right? Can we call time of death on this thing? There’s nothing sadder than watching something struggle when you know it’s going to die–this is just cruel. After shitty set back after shitty set back it looks like Woodstock 50 still has more to deal with. I guess finding the highly exciting and very tourist-worthy location of Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, Maryland was not enough to save this thing. Huh, who’d of thought?

After getting screwed by investors, suing investors, and finding new investors, and losing two locations–or maybe it was three locations–Woodstock 50 finally got a place and a date and it was ready. But was it too bad, too late? Since the concert is supposed to happen in a two weeks between August 16 and 18? Answer: most definitely.

The Black Keys dropped out of Woodstock 50 in April, and Jay-Z followed suit. Pitchfork reports that rep for the The Raconteurs says they canceled their set at Woodstock 50 and Miley Cyrus has also dropped out. Rolling Stone says that Santana, The Lumineers, Dead & Company, and Loving Spoonful’s John Sebastian have all canceled their appearances also.

Who didn’t see this coming? If people like Halsey and Chance The Rapper don’t cancel by the end of the week I’ll be shocked. Here’s hoping some people actually show up for this mess so that I can get some funny social media memes out of the huge public flop it will be. But hear me out, then what the Woodstock organizers can do, is they can use all the memes of their flop to advertise a Woodstock 51, which this time–and this part is crucial–they actually plan it ahead of time. Then they can claw back from the abyss with a successful Woodstock! Everyone loves a comeback! …But lets be real, this 50th anniversary will not be it. Sometimes people skip a birthday, you know?
